StegDetect -- Program for detecting stegg'd images

GifShuffle -- Hide a short message in a GIF file by carefully arranging the order of colours in the palette.

Steganos -- Commercial stego program

Chaffing -- A study on a new method of information hiding, relating to data packets being sent across the internet. Advantages are that the person providing the security doesn't need to be colluding with the person benefitting from the security. Works kind'a like spread-spectrum does for radio.

Rubberhose -- Deniable encryption system for linux/BSD. With this system, it is never possible to determine how much encrypted information exists on the disk, therefore the very existance of data can be disclaimed.

SpamMimic -- Turn any message into a well-formed spam letter, and let it pass unnoticed by everyone!

JPHideSeek -- Hide any type of file in a JPEG picture

Fapp -- Introduction to stego research

Note: Steganography is still a very young subject, and all of the programs on this page (with the exception of rubberhose) should be considered just toys and demonstrations. These programs will get your data past friends and family, but it is very easy to detect the existance of hidden messages with proper tools

MaruTukku (pronounced 'rubberhose') is different, as this has been specifically designed for use by Human-rights groups in the field, hence the name. Anyone with a serious need to protect data should take a look at MaruTukku, and read about how it works.
